“Just as rain & snow descend from the skies and don’t go back until they’ve watered the earth, doing their work of making things grow and blossom, producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry, so will the words that come out of my mouth not come back empty-handed. They’ll do the work I sent them to do, they’ll complete the assignment I gave them.”
(Isaiah 55:10-11 MSG)
This promise assures us that God’s living Word will bear fruit wherever He sends it. Here’s a sampling from last month of His Word accomplishing just that—on all six inhabited continents:
1} Africa • Tanzania: “Thank God, the girls at Tumaini Jipya (New Hope) are thriving. The Form 4 girls (inaugural class) have had visits from godly, local women who, through education and mentoring, have succeeded in their careers and roles. They told of God’s faithfulness and encouraged the girls as they prepare to graduate later this year.” • D.R. Congo: In the wake of December M23 rebel attacks that displaced 200,000 people, our Congolese partners write: “Last week at our city’s major hospital, our team visited the maternity and gunshot wound wards. Many were in pain and fear, bereft of family. We prayed with them, shared the gospel, and distributed King of Glory books in Swahili and French. Many were comforted. The nurses told us, ‘Come back—your message brings hope!’”
2} Asia • Through trusted Middle Eastern partners, practical aid has been sent to believers in Iran (many beaten, abused, imprisoned, some martyred). • This month in Lebanon, where 20% of its population has been displaced, food boxes and Arabic KoG books and coloring books are being distributed to 750 children in 15 shelters. • Other Arab partners have loaded 3,000 solar-powered MP3 players with ROCK audio and video media for Lebanese, Syrians, and Iraqis.
3} Europe • In Germany, a multitude of youth were impacted at a conference by the author of What If Jesus Meant What He Said? This discipleship resource will soon be available in German (its 5th language). • After much delay, God has provided a family in Italy with the passion and insights to bring the Italian KoG film (Re di Gloria) to its finish line. Aware of the spiritual darkness around them, the father writes, “Let’s knock this project out! The show must go on!”
4} Oceania • In Papua New Guinea, where ROCK, MAF, and others have distributed 60,000 KoG books, with more being printed, many are understanding and sharing the gospel. A couple plans to translate the book into the language of their tribe (with a total population of 7000).
5} South America • In the Amazon jungle, God is mightily at work through Yanomamö believers who travel for weeks by canoe to reach the unreached using Yanomamö KoG picture books in combination with audio books on solar-powered player-flashlights. Some hidden tribal people who have heard of these have also traveled for weeks to obtain their own “Torch.”
6} North America • On May 29, the 10-acre immersive “Faith Walk Community Fitness Park” will have its grand opening. This King of Glory-themed multifaceted park is the fulfillment of a 12-year-old vision God put into the heart of a local businessman and his wife to do in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho—a Rocky Mountain city that draws hundreds of thousands of tourists annually.
All to the glory of God!
