Dr. Phil Golson

DR. PHIL GOLSON, ROCK International Vice President, Chairman of the Board

Phil Golson serves the Lord and people in Knysna, South Africa. He is President and Director of the Garden Route Arts, Communication and Education (GRACE, Inc.). He is also on the management team for Knysna Hope. Previous teaching positions include Clearwater Christian College, The University of Wisconsin (La Crosse), The University of South Carolina, Viterbo University and The University of South Carolina (Sumter). He uses music education as a mission vehicle. He is an elder at Lagoonside Church and leads music. Guest lectureships include The University of Stellenbosch and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. He has trained multinational classes of music officers for the South African Army and Navy. He taught drumming techniques to children in the Canonkop/Concordia informal areas. He developed a brass music training programme in Oudtshoorn and music education to children in the Hornlee community as well.

Phil also works with Knysna Hope, a team of church planting families and individuals using diverse giftings and experience for evangelism, discipleship and church formation. The team ministers in 3 languages to 5 geographic areas. It provides Bible Institute training, computer literacy, and other helps to local people such as summer camp, retreats, Bible studies, and other events. Phil’s wife Kristen (Jones) has been a companion to 25 countries, and they enjoy rearing three teen daughters and calling South Africa home.
