Oxford Dictionary definition: media [noun] • The means or agency through which communication takes place; often synonymous with channel.
We thank you in Jesus’ name for being channels – a means through which ROCK International can continue to communicate God’s story and message in remote, “closed”, creative-access realms of our lost world. Thank you for your prayers and part in supporting the many ongoing translations, proofings, recordings, field-testing, formatting, printing, shipping and distribution of ROCK’s multimedia tools, now in 115 languages and counting.
We praise God too for the media channels available to us today to spread His word. While our lives and words are to be our first channel (Acts 8:35; 2 Cor. 3:2-3; Psa. 78:4-8), here are ten other channels we and our worldwide partners are using to impact millions: Internet websites (used by about 63% of the world), Social Media Platforms (60%), Email (52%), Radio & Digital Radio (50%), Television (Broadcast & Streaming) (42%), Video Content Platforms (32%), Mobile Messaging Apps (25%), Print Media (22%), Podcasts & Audio Streaming (5%), Video Conferencing (4%), etc. Here are two examples of how God is at work through such media channels:
☐ One of our Arabic ministry partners (who have translated and recorded the KING of GLORY (KoG) movie in 6 of its 8 Arabic-dialects) have been doing Facebook campaigns since early 2024 in the Middle East & N. Africa. Their method is to invest time and funds into one Arabic nation at a time for a period of 3 months per country. Multitudes are being drawn to their FB page to watch 1-minute KoG reels in their heart language. For example, in one country (known for its hostility to non-Muslim nations), these KoG reels had nearly half a million thru-plays and more than 2400 messages received and responded-to during the 3-month period. God is at work in that dark land as in the book of Acts, where “the word of God grew and multiplied.” (Acts 12:24)
☐ While each of us gets just 24 hours per day, in 2024’s 366 days, KING of GLORY, in its 60 languages, was watched on ROCK’s YouTube channel for nearly 24,000 hours per day. YouTube stats for 2024 break it down like this: Views: 5,950,694 | Hours: 8,615,222 | Average watch-time per view: 86 minutes per click.
This old hymn perfectly expresses the responsibility and privilege that is ours in Christ: “Channels only, blessed Master, but with all Your wondrous power! Flowing through us, You can use us, every day and every hour.”
