“Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living Word of God.”
—1 Peter 1:23b NLT
What 2 things on earth last forever? People and God’s Word. It’s no surprise then that as God’s redeemed children, our “new normal” is to invest our time, treasure, and talents in connecting people with the eternal, living Word of God—beginning at home, but not stopping there.
ROCK International exists as a channel and a toolbox to encourage and equip God’s people—His church (Ekklesia = “called-out ones”)—to fulfill our role in our risen Lord’s command to “make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:18-20).
R.O.C.K. (always in caps!) is a double acronym—reflecting our focus on people and the Word:
• Relief, Opportunity, and Care for Kids (ROCKids)
• Resources Of Crucial Knowledge (ROCK Resources)
With chronological gospel and discipleship tools in 115+ languages, some may assume that “ROCK Resources” focuses primarily on projects rather than on people. The reality is that, while ROCK’s multimedia projects require both skill and precision in technology, translation, and tedious details, people are the reason for and the producers of these biblical resources. Without building relationships and partnering with qualified believers around the globe to translate, check, record, field-test, format, print, publicize, and distribute such resources—ROCK International’s hundreds of multilingual tools would neither exist nor have such a reach.
One outstanding opportunity God has opened to connect this generation with His living Word is in Rwanda—a nation still recovering from the 1994 genocide, when a million people were slaughtered in just 100 days. Three decades later, the gospel is redeeming countless sin-bound and broken lives and healing torn and traumatized relationships.
In September 2024, ROCK International partnered with Teens for Christ Rwanda (TFC) when 10,000 youth gathered in a stadium to hear God’s Word, with Nate (ROCK’s founder) as one of the speakers. ROCK is now working with TFC leaders and 28 of their teachers, who give a Bible lesson weekly in schools across Rwanda to more than 60,000 students. Their vision and prayer is to teach and reach a million students. Following a recent Zoom meeting with ROCK, the TFC team is preparing to use the KING of GLORY picture book and study guide to teach the gospel—from creation to Christ to new creation. Thank you for your prayers and participation…
Thanks too for your part in youth ministries in Niger and Senegal—and in Tanzania (next to Rwanda), where students are thriving intellectually and spiritually in the Tumaini Jipya (Swahili for “New Hope”) Secondary School for Girls.
On another continent, we recently received this encrypted message from a colleague in a restricted Central Asian land: “For years, a certain people group in a neighboring country was considered ‘unreachable’ since no one knew their language. But [one of our evangelists] came across a pocket of these people and heard them speaking a Pashto dialect close to his own! He is excited to return to present the gospel, armed with the King of Glory movie in Pashto.”
Workers together with God and you, excited to connect people to His eternal, life-giving Word!
